Munich (Pressweb) - TÜV SÜD is continuing to expand its activities in the field of data security by establishing a new subsidiary, TÜV SÜD Sec IT GmbH. The new company unveiled its comprehensive service portfolio on 1 January 2014, offering services associated with data protection, new media and IT security that all focus on security and value added. TÜV SÜD SEC-IT will expand the existing service portfolio by adding innovative security services for data centres and services in the field of IT forensics. The managing director of the new TÜV SÜD subsidiary is Wolfgang Hock.
Data security will be one of TÜV SÜD's key growth areas over the next years, as data leakage and cyber attacks could jeopardise virtually any business model at a moment's notice. To prevent the misuse or loss of sensitive data, data security checks and the processing of data in conformity with the data protection principles are continuing to rise in significance. "Consumers in particular often do not know exactly how their data will be used. They need and seek to place their trust in a reliable partner", says Wolfgang Hock, Managing Director TÜV SÜD Sec-IT GmbH. "Given this, it is vital that companies monitor the security of their IT systems, and this is exactly where we come in. We have expanded our portfolio of IT security services to minimise risks for both companies and consumers." TÜV SÜD's external data protection officers also assist companies on site in managing this complex issue.
The subsidiary also supplies new services for data centres and in the area of IT forensics. By doing so, TÜV SÜD's experts provide assistance in searching for digital evidence in computer systems. Penetration tests, for example, uncover vulnerabilities in a system, thus protecting companies and consumers against hacker attacks. However, existing traditional services will also be kept on offer. E-commerce solutions such as the well-known TÜV SÜD s@fer-shopping octagon and the assessment of shopping apps and online portals offer online retailers and customers ideal guidance for safe use. Certifications such as those in accordance with the ISO 27001 standard (information security management), ISO 20000 (IT Service Processes) and PCI will continue to be carried out by TÜV SÜD Management Service GmbH in the future.
